Mentoring Program

GEYSO is dedicated to encouraging personal and artistic growth in its students by offering the only mentoring program in the area. Highly-qualified and talented faculty sit side-by-side with students during weekly rehearsals and hold master classes each month. Problems are addressed, questions are answered and students get a sense of what is expected and required to achieve the highest level of artistic excellence.  

Outreach Programs

GEYSO offers a specialized program that gives area elementary school students an in-school introduction to violin from a faculty strings instructor. When this six-week course is complete, third-grade students may join the Allegro Strings Ensemble, where music reading skills are developed. Students who graduate from this program may then join the Overture Strings Ensemble, where skills are further nurtured. Allegro Strings rehearse on

Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. at McDowell Intermediate High School. 

Overture Strings rehearse from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Penn State Behrend.
